Spring 2011 Ipomoea batatas ‘Margarita’ - Potato Vine
Tiny holes in the leaves of your Margarita potato vine? Sweet potato weevils and flea beetles may damage the leaves. Debbie, one of our staff members, found the small beetle underneath a leaf on her plant growing at home. "The leaves are full of holes and what I do is take off the leaves - maybe not all of them at one time, but take some off and the plant will sprout from those points where the leaves came off the stem. Also cutting the plant back, will encourage new leaves and branching. I read somewhere that these look better and grow better i the ground. In my opinion if you have it a large container, it will trail down to the ground and might root there. "
